First Time LinkedIn Posting

Written by:

This week marked my plan to finally start posting to LinkedIn to share my passion in utilizing LinkedIn to talk about my interest in pharmaceutical marketing. I thought I would start posting Monday through Friday, but they became time consuming due to outside factors and extensive reviewing of my bibliography.

For starters, I watched videos such as “What’s the Point of LinkedIn, Anyway?“, “Pharma Digital Marketing – About us”, and “How To Use LinkedIn For Business And Marketing”. A common idea they share is that LinkedIn proved to be the most useful platform for pharmaceutical marketing because the platform provides a safe place for professional posting and interactions between other professionals who share the same interests in the healthcare field. Other platforms like Twitter and Facebook do not advertise enough interest due to the platforms being used for sharing more personal thoughts and opinions.

I went ahead and started writing my draft for the post while referencing my outline from last week to remember what I should include in my post. Once that was done, I spent a day or two reviewing it to make sure there’s no grammatical error and run on sentences. As I grabbed my LinkedIn template I created last week, I realized the overall aesthetic did not make sense because the blue did not correlate to the professional tone I want to showcase, so I went back into Canva to revise my design and size to fit the post better.

After making all the needed corrections and once more reviewing my work, I eventually proceeded and posted it on my LinkedIn. It was quite nerve-wracking because I do not generally feel at ease sharing posts on social media networks, particularly in a work setting. However, I was well aware that venturing out of my comfort zone was called for in a bid to foster personal as well as professional growth. I’d been impressed for a long time with the energy and knowledge of the healthcare community on LinkedIn, and I needed to move from being an observer to a participant. Revealing myself was intimidating, but also thrilling, at the same time.

I kept reminding myself that by posting about my passions and activities, I might be able to inspire or connect with another individual navigating a similar journey in pharmaceutical marketing. The process was definitely time consuming – between drafting, editing, and design, but ultimately it was so satisfying. In the future, I hope to keep continuing the project, build my confidence with public posting, and more and more cultivate my engagement and reputation within the field.
