Creating narratives or stories based in images can be fascinating and interesting because one could interpret an image in a variety of ways based on one’s experiences and knowledge. As the saying goes, “a picture is worth a thousand words”. Anyone could come with anything from one image and describe it in a way that is passionate or storytelling. One could even collect a variety of images and create a narrative that flows with the idea behind each image that ties together to create one story to tell an audience.
Let’s look at some examples below using images from various Taylor Swift albums she created in her career.

Here, we can see Taylor looking to the side while basking in the sunlight and sitting on the train track by herself. She’s thinking about her potential start to her music career due to her passion in songwriting and singing. Being a young woman, she already knows what she wants for her future and how she plans to jumpstart her music career. Sitting by the tracks in daylight helps her keep herself down to earth to keep her roots as a country girl.

As a young woman, Taylor also thinks about potential romance she wants to pursue. Here, we see her struggling to figure out what she really wants in a romantic relationship due to her priorities while satisfying her partner’s desires. Because she does not have much experience with romance, a handful of her relationships fall, resulting in breakups. This sparks a confusion in Taylor’s priorities for both her career and personal life.

Taylor attends an wedding, most likely her old friend’s who invited her. However, the wedding did not go well as we see a bride arguing with her groom due to disagreements. There is such an uproar in the bride, resulting in Taylor standing up to try to stop the fight from escalating. Meanwhile, the officiant stares at the groom in confusion, likely because the groom overstepped his line that sparked an outrage in the bride.

Taylor sits alone in her bedroom strumming along to her guitar. She is likely trying to create an original song based on her life experiences such as past romance. Sitting in a dim lighted room helps her focus on setting the mood and tone of her music. By being alone, she can focus on thinking of ideas to write her lyrics while creating a melody on her guitar.

Taylor stands in the forest looking out to her right. She is looking for inspiration for her music to write and produce based on her observation. Instead of being in a room or city, she chose to visit the forest to find originality for the theme of her upcoming music. This helps her plan out her future in her music career to maintain her reputation within the entertainment industry.

Here we see Taylor laying on the field near a lake looking to her left while holding what looks like a camera. She is likely visiting the area to take pictures for her memories or collect ideas for her new songs by recording them to bring home to look through them. She likes to rest on the field to enjoy nature and reminiscence the good times growing up before she embarked on her music journey. Being a country girl, she did not mind laying on the ground barefoot to embrace nature for its habitat.

Taylor is looking out into the ocean to enjoy the calming view while staring into the sky to get fresh air and refresh her mind. She sits on the logs near the ocean to be closer to the water to breathe in the ocean breeze to relax her mind and body. Here it is very sunny, which gives a bright and happy vibe and atmosphere, especially when one is near an ocean. This helps her keep herself calm and relax while she takes time writing music while still being down to earth.
Image storytelling is a powerful way of communicating ideas, feelings, and events without dependance on the use of language. Visual storytelling transcends language and engages people at an earlier, more instinctive level by evoking feeling and encouraging interpretation. Any photo can capture time, speak, or spark imagination, with viewers actively collaborating in building meaning. In media and art, and in life as well, images are the universally shared narrators—informing us about culture, informing us about identity, and influencing how we see the world.
